THE WONDROUS KITE
by Julia Sandberg
Illustrated by Jason Sandberg
What would it be like to be a carefree kite? This rhyming picture book imagines the world as seen by “The Wondrous Kite.” Perfect as a bedtime story, this book also serves as an introduction to the pet dinosaurs, pixie wings, and resourceful heroines that populate Jason Sandberg's eBooks.
Jason Sandberg, born in Minneapolis in 1971, acquired a love of drawing after discovering the artwork of Jacob Kurtzberg. His paintings have been exhibited in Minneapolis and Manhattan. Art Historian Scott McCloud classified his work as uncategorizable. “I’m a Fine Artist who also wants to produce the ‘missing books’ from my childhood, the books I wished I’d had.”
This is a cute poem written by the illustrator's daughter about her adventures with a kite.
As with all books written by children, the poem has its own feel to it. . .and it's sweet. The verse is simple and written with a child's charm. But it's exactly this which allows the adventure to remain true from the eyes of a kid. Children will be more than able to relate to this adventure. It's short, to the point, and perfect for young listeners to relax to right before bedtime. . .and dream of going out into the world with a kite of their own.
The illustrations fit nicely to the words, bringing the poem to life. They're bright and bold, inviting kids to simply sit down and flip through them again and again.
